We’re thrilled to shine the spotlight on one of our exceptional team members, Kayleen Lerm, who brings passion and energy to our finance department. Let’s delve into her fascinating journey and learn more about the incredible person behind the numbers.
Growing Up and Family Ties: Kayleen’s roots trace back to Cape Town, with a detour to Brits in Gauteng during her childhood. She’s a proud Northen Suburbs resident, moving a few times but always finding her way back home. As the middle child with an older sister and a younger brother, Kayleen reminisces about the unique joys and challenges of being a middle sibling.
Educational Journey: Kayleen attended Koos Sadie Primary and later President High School, graduating in 2013. Her diverse experiences shaped her into the dynamic individual she is today.
Early Career Adventures: Remarkably, Kayleen started working at the age of 16 as a door hostess at Spur. After matriculating, she ventured into the real estate field at Dickson Properties in Kraaifontein. Her adventurous spirit took her to the Netherlands, where she au paired for a year and explored various European countries. Upon her return to South Africa, she worked at Keller Williams in Durbanville before joining ESI Attorneys in December 2017.
Family and Fur Babies: While not yet married and without any children of her own, Kayleen considers her two four-legged companions – a 9-month-old Pitbull and a wise 14-year-old fluffy pooch – as her kids. She loves spoiling them with lots of play time and attention and takes her role as their custodian very seriously.
A Day in the Finance Department: Kayleen plays a pivotal role in the accounts department, managing investments, payments, and fees. She also assists with office management and is the one we all call to deal with the printers and their inevitable paper jams.
Proud Achievements: Kayleen’s career journey is a testament to her perseverance. In her previous career with estate agents, she had heard of ESI Attorneys and it was always her dream to work there. She began her journey with us in the deliveries department and she worked her way up to the accounts department through her diligence, reliability and personal character, achieving her goal of a meaningful career at ESI Attorneys.
Life Morals and Philosophies: “Don’t do to others what you don’t want to be done to yourself.” This golden rule guides Kayleen through life. “No matter how many times life knocks you down, get back up” is another moral she strongly ascribes to, encouraging her to face defeats with resilience and determination.
Spare Time Pursuits: In her downtime, Kayleen enjoys Sudoku, reading, and keeping her energetic dogs entertained. Kayleen also sometimes housesits and petsits and she also loves to babysit. She enjoys looking after kids and entertaining them. Her high energy levels allow her to play with dogs and other people’s children until they’re exhausted. Recently becoming an aunt, she looks forward to spending quality time with her niece and watching her grow up. Kayleen is also into functional fitness and Muay Thai classes, harnessing her high energy levels and showcasing her zest for an active lifestyle.
