At ESI Attorneys, our people are at the heart of what we do. This month, we introduce Raashiq Roberts, one of our dedicated conveyancers, whose journey in law has been shaped by a strong work ethic, a commitment to his clients and, most importantly, his family.
From Cape Town to Conveyancing
Born and bred in Cape Town, Raashiq is the youngest of three children in a family of five. From an early age, he was fortunate to have strong role models in his parents and grandparents, who instilled in him the importance of hard work and always giving 110% in whatever he does.
That work ethic has remained a guiding principle throughout his career.
Raashiq began his legal career in 2015 when he served his articles at Strauss Daly Attorneys. He was admitted as an attorney in 2016 and later as a conveyancer in 2019. After seven years at Strauss Daly, he decided to broaden his horizons and joined Tim Du Toit Attorneys in 2022, where he spent a year before joining ESI Attorneys in 2023.
Today, Raashiq is an important part of the ESI team, bringing his experience and knowledge to the conveyancing process.
A Day in the Life
Raashiq’s role involves much more than preparing documents. He regularly consults with clients to assist them with signing bond and transfer documents, prepares matters for lodgement and attends to various Deeds Office requirements, including restorations. He is also involved in panel discussions and assists with property developments.
It is a role that requires attention to detail, organisation and a thorough understanding of the conveyancing process, but for Raashiq, it is also about working with people and helping clients navigate an important milestone in their lives.
Family First
Away from the office, Raashiq is a devoted husband and father. He has been married to his wife, Fairuz, for five years, and together they have two children, Zidan, aged four, and Amal, aged two.
For Raashiq, one of his greatest achievements is not a professional milestone, but the family he has built. He is particularly proud of being a husband and father to a loving family, alongside the career he has worked hard to establish.
With two young children, his spare time naturally involves plenty of family adventures. Whether it is taking the kids to a park or exploring somewhere new around Cape Town, Raashiq enjoys making the most of time with his family. He also enjoys fishing and spending time with friends and family.
A Guiding Principle
When asked about the life lesson he lives by, Raashiq shares a simple but meaningful philosophy:
“To live life in a way that makes you respect the person you are becoming.”
It is a sentiment that speaks to the values he carries both personally and professionally: working hard, continually growing and remaining proud of the person he is becoming along the way.
