Early Years and Upbringing
Growing up in the community of Parow, Sue was the second child in her family, with an older sister and a younger brother who currently resides in George. She cherished her childhood and attended President High School where she matriculated in 1982. In her formative years, Sue developed a passion for sports, particularly netball, which would play a significant role in her life later on. She shared an exceptionally close bond with her sister, a relationship that would prove to be a constant source of support and connection as life unfolded. Unfortunately, Sue’s parents and extended family have passed away, making her sister’s presence even more significant in her life.
Early Career and Family Life
After completing her matric in 1982, Sue wasted no time in launching her career. In January 1983, she joined the Cape Provincial Administration, working in secretarial roles. Her professional journey took an exciting turn in 1984 when she got married, and in 1988, she welcomed her first child. During this period, Sue ventured into the world of Tupperware, taking on the role of a sales manager. Notably, she made history by recruiting the first male Tupperware salesperson. Sue’s impressive leadership skills allowed her to manage a team of 20 individuals and achieve remarkable sales milestones, earning herself a car and even a trip to Sun City. She relished working closely with people and had the unique privilege of visiting homes all over Cape Town as part of her role.
After a few years spent at home, dedicated to her children and deeply involved in PTAs and school activities, Sue’s career journey resumed. Her next professional chapter saw her working in sales, specifically in the field of jewellery, eventually leading her to Browns Jewellers in Tygervalley, where she specialised in selling exquisite diamonds. Her career continued to evolve, and she found herself assisting estate agents in selling homes and managing office operations. It was during this phase that she had a fateful encounter with Caryn, which would lead to her position at ESI.
Starting at ESI as a receptionist in 2013, Sue rapidly progressed within the company, taking on various responsibilities. She eventually found herself serving as the Personal Assistant to Caryn. Her current role at ESI as Deeds Office and Diary Manager is no small feat, as she coordinates clerks, secretaries, Deeds Office lodgements and registrations as well as applying her impeccable time management skills and planning acumen to streamline the company’s operations. Her responsibilities include managing client appointments, consulting with clients, overseeing attorneys and branch diaries. Sue is renowned for her personable approach, unwavering commitment to professionalism, and meticulous planning, making her an indispensable part of the ESI team.
Pride in Achievements
Sue’s life is a testament to her enduring pride in her family and personal achievements. Her children hold a special place in her heart, and she takes immense pride in the individuals they’ve become. Her journey has not been without its share of obstacles and challenges, but her resilience and determination have allowed her to conquer them, emerging even stronger.

Outside her demanding work at ESI, Sue enjoys the simple joys of life. Her favourite pastimes include braaiing, socialising with friends and family, spending quality time with her loved ones and embarking on leisurely drives. She describes herself as down to earth and always game for a laugh and some fun. She relishes visiting her children and walks on the beach, savouring the tranquil beauty of the coastline. Additionally, Sue finds herself captivated by the magical spirit of Christmas, cherishing the festive atmosphere created by trees, lights, and holiday movies.
