Attorney & Conveyancer | Joined ESI Attorneys in November 2025
This month, we are delighted to introduce one of the newest members of the ESI family, Monique Metcalf – an attorney and conveyancer whose warmth, experience and passion for people shine through in everything she does.
Her Roots and Early Journey
Monique grew up in Goodwood and attended Parow West Primary School, later completing her high school years at President High School in Parow. Coming from a close-knit, middle-class family, she describes her upbringing as grounded and filled with the values that continue to guide her today.
Her legal career began early: she started her articles in 2012 while studying part-time toward her Master’s degree, and she was admitted as an attorney in 2014.
Family Life
At home, Monique is surrounded by what she calls her greatest blessing: “the best husband in the world” and their two wonderful children. Her son is four and her daughter has just celebrated her first birthday. Family means everything to her, and they are at the heart of all she strives for.
Her Role at ESI Attorneys
At ESI, Monique is a true all-rounder. Her day-to-day work includes attending client signings, reviewing documents before signature and assisting with the pre-preparation of deeds. With 14 years of litigation experience and three and a half years leading the conveyancing department at her previous firm, she brings a rare blend of legal depth and practical conveyancing know-how.
Her extensive background means she can step in to support colleagues across the board, always ready to help where help is needed.
Proud Achievements
Monique’s proudest accomplishment is her family, but her professional milestones tell their own story of dedication and excellence. She passed the conveyancing exam on her first attempt and was recognised in Die Burger twice for her involvement in major litigation matters, including work relating to large ponzi scheme investigations.
Her Life Philosophy
One of Monique’s guiding principles is simple but powerful: everything in life is a choice. She believes in choosing resilience, taking life’s challenges on the chin, smiling and making the best of every situation.
Life Outside the Office
When she’s not in court files or deeds office prep, you’ll find Monique outdoors. She’s passionate about camping with her family and has been playing action hockey for an impressive 27 years. Nature, fresh air and watching her children explore the world are her favourite ways to recharge.
