MEET THE TEAM: JEANTÉLLE POTTAS

This month we are delighted to introduce Jeantélle Pottas, a valued member of our bond registration department.

Jeantélle was born and raised in Pretoria and moved to Cape Town with her family in October 2020. She attended Pro Arte Alphen Park High School where she studied Hotel Keeping and Catering before completing her Modern Dance teaching degree through the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance in the UK. With this, she opened her own dance studio, teaching children as young as three all the way through to adults in Modern, Hip-Hop, Ballroom and Latin American dance styles. She later added to her skills by completing a Guest House Management course through UCT.

Her career in the legal field began in 2003 at WD Saayman Attorneys in Pretoria, where she started out delivering security documents before working her way into the bonds department. Over the years she gained extensive experience working with ABSA, Standard Bank, FNB and Nedbank bond registrations. For a time, she even swapped law for hospitality, when she managed her firm’s 4-Star Game Lodge and Spa for three years before returning to the bonds department where her expertise was most needed.

At ESI Attorneys, Jeantélle’s days are filled with drafting bond documents, issuing guarantees, uploading signed documents to bank systems and handling lodgements and registrations at the Deeds Office. She also assists clients and banks with queries, particularly for FNB and Nedbank.

Family life is central to Jeantélle. She and her husband married in 2006 after meeting in 2004, and together they are raising four children – two teenagers (17 and 15) and lively six-year-old twins. She describes her family as one of her greatest achievements, adding with a smile that managing teenagers and twins at the same time is an accomplishment all on its own.

Her guiding life motto is: “If life knocks you down, get up, dust yourself off, and keep moving forward. Never give up.”

When she does find some rare spare time, Jeantélle enjoys reading, photography and writing short children’s stories, which are currently a work in progress. She and her family also love taking scenic drives to the mountains, promenade or coast for picnics – perfect opportunities for Jeantélle to capture beautiful photographs.

We are proud to have Jeantélle as part of our team – her positivity, humour and dedication brighten our office every day.
