LODGEMENT AT THE DEEDS OFFICE
THE PROCESS

Once the transfer attorney, bond attorney and bond cancellation attorney are all ready to lodge, the transaction is lodged in one batch at the Deeds Office.

Here the documents go through a process of examination by two junior and one senior examiner to ensure accuracy and compliance with Deeds Office regulations. The lodgement period can take from 7 days to 25 days, depending on the backlog at the Deeds Office.

POTENTIAL DELAYS

If a transaction is rejected, it means that there is an error on either the transfer, bond or bond cancellation documents due to non-compliance with relevant legislation and Deeds Office practise. The rejection note needs to then be addressed by the conveyancer and Deeds Office prior to having the deeds relodged at the Deeds Office and the same process of examination ensues.
