Meet Elrine Kotze, a valued member of the ESI Attorneys team, whose journey is truly inspiring. In the world of conveyancing, where being precise and detail-oriented is crucial, Elrine shines with her exceptional dedication.
Originally from Namibia, Elrine’s family later moved to Gauteng. Despite facing challenges early in life due to her father’s passing, her mother Ina raised her and her two brothers single-handedly. Elrine attributes her strong character to her mother’s grace and determination. She completed her schooling at Oos-Moot High in Waverley, Pretoria, in 1992.
In 2001, Elrine moved to Cape Town with her three beloved children – Venessa, Stephan, and Samantha. She embraced surfing and nurtured their mutual creativity. As a single parent, she showed incredible perseverance, discipline and self-motivation, setting a powerful example for her children to live by.
Elrine’s career in law began at just 16, inspired by her mother’s four decades of conveyancing experience. She worked in various positions, gaining skills along the way. She joined ESI Attorneys in October 2021, where she specialises in mortgage bond registrations.
Elrine’s journey wasn’t limited to the law. In 2008, during tough economic times, she diversified her skills and became a Reflexologist, Massage Therapist, and Care Worker. She founded Universal Footprints to help and heal others.
Her love for sports came from her father, a former Namibian national team player. Elrine played hockey and tennis in school and found her passion for weightlifting at the gym at age 16. Although she continued training over the years, she didn’t consider competing until her children were self-sufficient. At 40, she decided to step up her training and started competing. In 2016, she was selected for the SA National team and earned her SA Protea colours at 41. Elrine excelled in bodybuilding, earning Western Province colours four times. Her recent victory was at the Battle of the Titans in July 2023, where she won first place in the Body Fitness division. She’s contemplating an invitation to the National Championship in September.
Elrine’s life embodies balance and determination. Her routine for the past eight years has been consistent: she rises at 4:00 am, trains from 5 to 7 am and, during competition season, adds an evening session from 5 to 7 pm. The off-season is around 4 to 6 months, and competition preparation takes about 4 to 5 months of rigorous exercise and diet.
Dedicating oneself to a competition demands a significant investment of one’s leisure time and necessitates pushing the boundaries of one’s physical capabilities. According to her, the most formidable trial lies within the realm of the mind – maintaining unwavering concentration on the ultimate objective. The intricate journey of muscle development is a protracted one, with discernible outcomes only manifesting after a dedicated commitment of approximately five years, coupled with adhering to a meticulously tailored dietary regimen.
As she continues excelling in her career and personal pursuits, Elrine lives by the motto: “There is no such thing as a problem, only an opportunity.” Her commitment to kindness and respect reflects her admirable character.
Elrine’s story is one of triumph over adversity, of pushing boundaries and setting new standards. As she takes each stride in her conveyancing career and fitness journey, she serves as an inspiration to her colleagues and to anyone who aspires to reach for the stars. We are proud to have Elrine Kotze as a part of our team at ESI Attorneys, where her story continues to inspire us all.
